From Mom to Photographer: Why I Capture Real Moments for Families in Virginia Beach

Occasionally, something happens that changes everything- something that subtly says, "This is what you were meant to do." For me, this was that moment.

children ran wild and free

As my children ran wild and free, with sand between their toes and joy in their laughter, the sun shone brightly and warmly, reflecting off the waves. I was holding my camera to capture a feeling that I knew would elude me if I didn't, not to produce anything flawless.

I realized that this is what I want to provide to other families somewhere in between watching my daughter throw her head back in laughter and watching my son splash through the waves. More than a picture. One of the memories. A sensation. Time stops for a moment.

I understand how quickly things go because I'm a mother. They are chasing seagulls down the shoreline one minute, and then you are rocking them to sleep the next. For us, life doesn't slow down. Photography, however, does. And I came to understand how potent it is to stop the mayhem and capture the love, the bond, and the basic enchantment of being together that day while I was behind the camera.

I want to take pictures of families the way I do my own: beautiful, authentic, and wild. I want your children to play in the sand, run, and laugh. I don't just want you to take pictures; I want you to be in them. Because, like your children, you too deserve to be seen, remembered, and loved.

I'm not looking for forced smiles or rigid poses. I wish to provide you with something more profound:

Mother holding child in garden

The way your toddler's hand slides into yours.

When your kids cover you in sand, you laugh.

Your family's warmth, energy, and spirit- just like you.

I would be honored to take pictures if you've been wanting pictures that are authentically you- pictures that are alive with love and heart.

We were alone on this beach day, but what about the vibe it gave me? That's also for you. I would be delighted to assist you in freezing your own magic if you have visions of a family session that is full of laughter, light, and movement.
